Project Director: Dallas Community Tax Centers 

Foundation Communities (FC) is a nationally-recognized nonprofit organization that provides affordable housing and the tools low- and moderate-income families need to increase their educational and economic standing.  In partnership with United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, FC is expanding its role in the Earn It! Keep It! Save It! program to provide free income tax preparation and other financial education and asset building opportunities for low-income working families in Dallas. 

We seek a highly motivated, entrepreneurial leader with a passion for helping disadvantaged families improve their finances.  Primary responsibilities include:

ˇ         Participate in planning and oversight efforts as part of the Earn It! Keep It! Save It! steering committee

ˇ         Work closely with project partners to develop and implement a plan to establish eight successful Community Tax Center sites in Dallas during the upcoming tax filing season.

ˇ         Identify and secure one tax center site to serve as a year-round tax preparation and asset building hub.

ˇ         Create and oversee the program budget, including approval of expenditures

ˇ         Work with the Operations Director to recruit, hire, train and supervise seasonal  program staff

ˇ         Work closely with the contracted public relations/marketing company to conduct a successful client outreach and recruitment campaign with the goal of bringing 10,000 clients to the tax centers

ˇ         Create and publicize schedules for tax center operations, in conjunction with host sites

ˇ         Assist United Way and other partners to recruit and train a sufficient number of volunteer tax preparers and other support positions

ˇ         Represent the program to funders, elected and public officials, community partners and other stakeholders

ˇ         Compile and distribute program reports as appropriate for internal and external review

ˇ         Work in partnership with other FC staff and partners in the areas of marketing and media relations, fundraising, accounting and information technology

ˇ         Participate with Earn It! Keep It! Save It! partners in the development of financial education and other asset building components

ˇ         Participate in post-season planning with key partners and other stakeholders about how to continue to increase the number taxpayers in Dallas who utilize free income tax assistance programs.

ˇ         Research best practices and remain knowledgeable about developments in the field

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with at least four years of experience leading a substantial program or community initiative.  Experience in working with collaborative partners and funders and in conducting community outreach and marketing is required.  Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish is desirable.
