Executive Director
Mission Central
General Description: Mission Central is currently seeking an Executive Director to provide leadership regarding its mission, vision and goals of helping to improve the quality of life for low-income families in the Hurst, Euless, Bedford (HEB) area. The Executive Director oversees all administrative, development, and programmatic activities of the organization and reports directly to the Board of Directors.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Fundraising
· Lead a successful fund development strategy, focused on cultivation of individuals, corporations and foundations
· Write, research, and submit all grant requests. Submit appropriate reports and documentation and requested by the foundation.
· Work closely with Board to maintain and increase current levels of giving while identifying and soliciting new funding sources
Program/Financial Management
· Assure that Mission Central has long-range strategy that makes consistent and timely progress towards achieving its mission.
· Provide leadership in working with the Board of Directors and staff to develop programs and organizational financial plans and carry out the plans and policies authorized by the Board.
· Oversee and develop all agency programs and ensure they are meeting the needs of the community.
· Ensure the organization employs sound financial and administrative practices.
· Develop and prepare budget for board’s approval. Ensure the organization operates within approved budget
· Keep Board fully informed on all important factors influencing the financial condition of Mission Central
· Maintain official financial records and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding the governance of a non-profit organization.
Public Outreach
· Raise the profile of the organization by actively and effectively representing the organization to funders, community leaders and key constituents
· Implement sound advocacy, marketing and public relations strategies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
· Minimum 5 years management experience working in a nonprofit or public sector organization
· Minimum 5 years demonstrated fundraising success, including the ability to establish credibility with funders, granting organizations, and the community
· Minimum 5 years experience in fiscal management and oversight, including budget, cash flow, and fund development and monitoring
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· Master’s degree in public or business administration
· Five years experience as an Executive Director or CEO of a non profit organization
· Experience managing a large volunteer base
· Experience managing and developing a staff of at least five employees
· Experience working for a nonprofit organization
· Experience in grant writing
· Experience in drafting organizational policies and procedures
· Experience working with low-income populations
· Working knowledge of board governance
· Experience with payroll and Human Resources a plus
Ability to:
· Effectively communicate information and ideas to others through a variety of media outlets and public speaking
· Establish and maintain working relationships with Mission Central staff, volunteers and Board members to achieve common goals.
· Plan, organize, and prioritize multiple assignments to effectively manage a fast paced and changing work environment without compromising accuracy
· Act in the best interest of the clients of Mission Central
· Maintain client and agency confidentiality
· Create an environment that fosters a sense of belonging among the agency volunteers.
· Enhance employee experience and performance by motivating, coaching, mentoring and rewarding.
· Ensure staff opportunities for professional growth.
· Effectively manage staff and volunteers by providing clear expectations, constructive feedback, and challenging assignments.
· Self-starter and problem solver with strong initiative and ability to design, implement and evaluate programs and projects.
· Demonstrated ability to create a positive environment for both staff and volunteers.
