Senior Volunteer Corps announces kickoff event, seeks registrations
Fort Worth, Texas – Senior Citizen Services of Greater Tarrant County, Inc. (SCS) is proud to announce the creation of Senior Volunteer Corps, and invites community members age 55 or older to the Kickoff Event.
The mission of Senior Volunteer Corps is to address community needs with targeted volunteer service. This exciting program will feature short trainings designed to attract motivated seniors and get them volunteering quickly. Members of the Corps will be invited to participate in periodic group volunteer projects while developing their own individual volunteer placements. Volunteering helps seniors fight isolation by giving them a powerful tool for meaning and connection. The Senior Volunteer Corps will help seniors make a difference in their own lives and in the lives of others.
Senior Volunteer Corps will begin with a Kickoff Event at 2500 Circle Drive (JPS South Hall) on August 23rd, from 9 am until noon. The event will focus on opportunities related to education, and feature speakers from United Way, Tarrant Literacy Coalition, REAL School Gardens, Catholic Charities, and more.
