Senior Citizen Services Texas Healthy Lifestyles group leaders

Texas Healthy Lifestyles seeks group leaders

Fort Worth, Texas – Texas Healthy Lifestyles is seeking volunteers to lead Diabetes Self-Management Program workshops that will take place in the upcoming year.

Workshops are designed to enable participants take charge of their lives by covering a range of topics related to the management and control of diabetes and chronic diseases.

Group leaders must participate in four days of training: August 22, 23, 29, and 30.  Training will take place from 9 am - 4 pm, and lunch will be provided.

No formal education or teaching experience is required, but being comfortable when speaking to groups is helpful.  Leaders are not expected to teach a curriculum, but guide participants through the workshops with the help of a trained co-leader.  Upon completion of training, leaders are committing to lead two workshops during the next 12 months.

The Texas Healthy Lifestyles Program is a collaborative effort between Tarrant County Public Health, Senior Citizen Services of Greater Tarrant County, and the Veterans Administration of North Texas.  Funding is provided by the Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities Services, United Way of Tarrant County, and the Area Agency on Aging of Tarrant County.

For more information or to register for the training, please contact Program Facilitator Peter Luby at 817.413.4949, extension 226, or pluby@scstc.org.
