Volunteer Opportunities:
Mentor a Refugee Family
Help newly arrived refugees become settled with life in a new country. Simply being a friend two hours a week can really make a difference in helping a refugee family become self-sufficient.
Volunteers will meet with a refugee family in their home and assist them in becoming familiar with their life in Fort Worth. This can include managing basic household affairs, looking for a job, shopping, riding the bus, using the library, and helping them practice their English language skills.
Requirements: Completion and processing of a volunteer application, a one and a half hour orientation, and a TB test.
Catholic Charities mission is to assist refugees in regaining control of their lives and becoming self-sufficient. By your mentorship, you can provide individuals with many of the tools they needed to rebuild their lives and help their families regain their sense of dignity.
Donation Center Helper
Catholic Charities receives a large number of donations and gives out these donations on a daily basis. Last year Catholic Charities served 111,817 people and gave various donated items to a large number of those served
Assist in Catholic Charities’ Creating Hope Donation Center and help us provide for our client’s basic needs. The CHDC is open 8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. Select a morning (8:30am-12:00pm) or afternoon (1:00pm-4:30pm) shift. Help sort and stock donations as well as fill requests by Catholic Charities case managers.

CASA Volunteer
CASA is an affordable subsidized housing community for elderly and disabled run by Catholic Charities. Facility includes community center, library, and professional landscaped grounds.
Volunteers are needed to come lead activities with the residents, visit with the residents, or give lectures. This is staffed 24 hours a day so it offers week day, weeknight, and weekend volunteer opportunities.
Requirements: Completion and processing of a volunteer application and a one and a half hour orientation.
Catholic Charities vision is people of faith helping people in need. By your assistance, you can meet the needs of the low-income elderly and disabled living in this housing community as well as give them hope through a smile and an offer of friendship.
Tutor a Refugee Child
Help a newly arrived refugee child become settled with life in a new country through tutoring. Volunteering one hour a week and helping this child continue their studies during summer break will be a huge help!
Volunteers will meet with a refugee child in their home once a week, one hour a day, for six weeks and assist them in improving their understanding of English.

Data Entry
Assist Catholic Charities programs better serve clients by providing data entry support. Volunteers will assist programs in entering client information and services received.
This can be morning or afternoon shifts Monday-Friday (8:30am-12:00pm or 1:00pm-4:30pm).

Life Skills Coach/Mentor
Catholic Charities has the International Foster Care program. In this program we resettle refugee minors into foster families as well as help immigrant children in foster care. These are minors who have lost their entire support system in their country and are being placed in a loving family to help them start a new life.
Volunteers are needed to mentor refugee teenagers in foster care as they learn and practice skills necessary for cultural acquisition. The life skills could be, but not limited to, practicing English, teaching how to bank and write checks, how to create a budget and manage finances, how to fill out job applications, practicing social skills, improving relationships, discussing school issues, hobbies, etc.
Expectations:
-Weekly commitment: minimum 2 hours/week
-Worksite: Client’s home and nearby community
