JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Development Intern

Department: Development Department

Reports To: Director of Development- Southwest Region

Purpose:

To support the Fundraising and Special Events programs, activities and projects, and provide support to all areas within the organization as needed.

Donor and Public Relations:

Help with details of donor and public relations included but not limited to:

• Assist in the execution of a donor recognition program;

• Assist in the coordination of our chapter’s involvement in national fundraising partnerships and initiatives.

• Help prepare Wish Stories for donors;

• Research, write and send wish stories to the media;

• Send event press releases to the media as directed by The Powell Group

• Attend Wish Ambassador training

Special Events:

Help with details of Kids For Wish Kids and Southwest Region Signature Event including but not limited to:

Kids for Wish Kids & External Events:

o Coordinate Kids for Wish Kids events and External Events

o Maintain organized files for each KFWK event

o Write thank you notes after events

o Help coordinate other volunteers to staff events

Signature Event: TBD

o Oversee incoming auction donation process

o Help research venues, caterers, florists, entertainment etc.

o Prepare proposals for in-kind contributions

o Prepare copy for event materials, i.e. invitations, website and sponsorship packets

o Help enter data for in-kind contributions

o Make follow up phone calls leading up to event

o Write thank you notes after events

o Gather supplies as needed

o Attend the event date TBD

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Skills:

• Ability to learn quickly and work independently (when needed);

• Ability to apply a common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uncomplicated written or oral instructions;

• Excellent writing skills;

• Excellent organization, communication, and problem solving skills;

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);

• Ability to multi-task while staying organized;

• Works well with staff, vendors and wish families;

• Regular and predictable attendance is a non-negotiable requirement of this internship program;

• Ability to follow through and handle projects responsibly and keep appropriate staff informed.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

6 months to 1 year of current office experience or

• Currently enrolled in college preferable as a Junior or Senior

• Recent graduate
